About Clever Crow
CleverCrow lets your community fund the issues they want fixed. Backers put money on your open issues, pooling small amounts until a fix is worth shipping. You fix things on your own terms, in your own editor; when your merged pull request closes a funded issue, the pool pays you. Backers can withdraw in full any time before a fix merges, and nothing pays out without your merge.
Community funding for the issues your users want fixed
CleverCrow pools backer money on your open GitHub issues and pays you, the maintainer, when your own merged pull request closes a funded issue. Small backings add up: like the crow and the pitcher, enough pebbles raise the water.
How it works
• Backers back an issue. Supporters pick one of your open issues and back it with an exact amount. The money pools on the issue, and every backing stays withdrawable in full until a fix merges. If no fix ever ships, backers get their money back; nobody pays for work that didn't happen. • You fix it on your own terms. In your own editor, with whatever tools you like, on your own schedule. A backed issue is an offer, not an order: which issues are eligible, what gets built, and what merges are all your call. • You merge, the pool pays you. When your merged pull request closes a funded issue, the pool settles: a flat 10% fee comes out (5% if you join as a founding maintainer) and the remainder accrues to you, with a line-item receipt on the issue page. Earnings are paid out monthly via Stripe.
You stay in control
CleverCrow is a GitHub App. You pick exactly which repositories it can see, and you can change or revoke access anytime in your GitHub settings. Its access is minimal by design: it comments on issues (the live funding comment that shows visitors the pool), and reads pull requests and repository metadata to detect when a merged fix closes a funded issue. It holds no git credentials of any kind and cannot push code to your repositories.
The receipt is the marketing
A live comment on each backed issue shows visitors the pool and what a fix pays. Every settled issue carries its receipt, and a README badge counts the issues your community has shipped, working on your repo for the next issue.
