About Zumbro Bot
Is it time to raise the Engineering Standards at your organization?
• If you are spending too much time squashing bugs, it's time for Zumbro. • If a senior team member is in charge of deciding "what good code looks like," it's time for Zumbro. • If "Well, it hasn't broken yet" describes your legacy code, it's time for Zumbro.
If you have tech debt in your repository, Zumbro will find bad code, propose a fix, and create a pull request for you. This will save many hours of your time.
How does Zumbro work?
• After adding Zumbro to your organization, grant Repository Access to at least one repo. • For each repo, Zumbro will create a PR with a configuration file. Inside that config file, enable the tools you want to run in that repo, then merge the PR. • Next, Zumbro will create a PR with a pre-commit config file with the tools you selected. Verify your settings and merge this PR.
Now Zumbro will go to work, bringing your code up to your new standards:
• Zumbro will create PRs with improvements to legacy code in your repo. • Have each team member install and run pre-commit hooks on all new code commits.
Zumbro Config Template
When you add Zumbro to a repo, it will create a .zumbro/config.yaml file like.
Enable tools in the file to apply your new engineering standards.
Note: do not rename or move the Zumbro config file.
Tools Supported
We currently support:
• pre-commit - a crucial tool for configuring git pre-commit githooks • isort - isort your imports, so you don't have to, • black - the uncompromising Python code formatter. • ruff - An extremely fast Python linter and code formatter, written in Rust. • More coming soon
Workflow
Zumbro will create pull requests with improvements to legacy code in your repo.
• If you agree with the changes, merge the PR. • If you don't agree with the changes, simply close the PR.
By installing and running Zumbro, you get continuous, automated improvement.
This will help you ship better code faster.
With Zumbro handling "high-toil" DevOps tasks, your team can focus on more productive and enjoyable work.
