That's all what this extension does. It does not change the behavior of how links are treated in your pages, if you want all links to automatically open in a new tab you'll have to find a way yourself (or another extension in addition to this one). Again.. this extension only focus new tabs, it does not open links in new tabs automatically, if you want to open a link in a new tab you can click a link holding CTRL on your keyboard.
